SummaryThe objective of this TerraSAR-X data proposal is to support the public funded research project “Methodical enhancement of PSI analysis for monitoring temporal varying surface deformation” which is part of the project “Radar-Based Spatial Monitoring” (RAMON) funded by the Niedersaechsische Technische Hochschule (NTH), which is founded by the state government of Niedersachsen Main objective is to advance and to expand Persistent Scatterer Interferometry (PSI) to better account for strongly non-linear surface deformations. Thereby special attentions are on the modeling of atmospheric errors and stochastic time series analysis. We will investigate natural gas storage facilities which were proven to be adequate areas for monitoring this kind of surface deformations. The gas storage facility provides the possibility to use TerraSAR-X data for area wide and continuous monitoring of deformations caused by natural and artificial stresses in the ground. The proposed investigation area covers storage facilities in the highly urbanized Berlin area, where the application of PSI is promising, and in comparison a more rural area
