|Title||Validation of TerraSAR-X Imageryís Applicability in Urban Ground Surface Stability Monitoring for the Major Cities of South China|

Urban ground deformation is serious environmental hazard in Hong Kong and the Mainland China. More than 70 cities in China are undergoing natural or human-induced subsidence. The disaster can led to significant damage and, driven by safety and legal liability, construction and civil engineering industries have great demands on land surface movement monitoring, especially in major cities of China.
Satellite Interferometry SAR (In-SAR) is a promising technology that offers low cost, large-coverage deformation monitoring and up to sub-millimeter accuracy. Moreover, high resolution SAR data provided by TerraSAR-X data will incur new types of deformation monitoring data products and professional services, especially in dense urban area. However, like other new technologies, InSAR-based analysis using TerraSAR-X images shall be scientifically calibrated and evaluated.
The Project Team proposed to carry out InSAR-based analysis in major cities of South China. With Project Teamís previous project results and the ground survey data obtained from the Project Teamís partner, this Project will scientifically prove the TerraSAR-Xís applicability and will bring new business opportunities for the construction industry in China to adopt the new technology.
