SummaryThis study aims at investigating multi-frequency SAR data from RADARSAT-2 (C-band), TerraSAR-X (X-band) and ALOS PalSAR-2 (L-band) for water level monitoring on wetlands. In addition the polarimetric information of SAR data, where available, will help the classification of different wetland types in conjunction with multispectral satellite imagery. The study area is 700 sq. km and is located in North eastern tip of Avalon Peninsula in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada (the kml file of the study area is attached). The area is rich in wetland with different types and is an excellent pilot site for this research as there are many field data for verification and developing the methodology. For calibrating the aforementioned sensors, corner reflectors will be installed in some selected wetlands (Marsh). Also field data collection campaign will be conducted in summer 2016.
