SummaryWe intend to achieve detailed information on the distribution of surfacefeatures on the ice shelf for dynamic modeling input. For a status-quodistribution, we plan to generate a mosaic of StripMap Mode images that coverthe whole Ekström Ice Shelf and the adjacent grounded ice ridges. Therefore,the images should be recorded within a short time frame to ensure similarclimatic conditions. Additionally, we plan to use images with similar incidenceangles (< 30°). If surface features cannot be identified unambiguously, weintend to use SpotLight images and field work to investigate those features. Thecalving front should be monitored on a regular basis over several years usingStripMap Mode imagery, e.g. once a month or once in two months, maybe withhigher temporal resolutions in the austral summer months or before and afterthe passing of giant icebergs close to the calving front.
