SummaryThe project will investigate surface deformations caused by the 2011 Puyehue-Cordón Caulle eruption in southern Chile. TerraSAR-X data will be jointly analysed with Envisat and GPS data. Especially the high spatial resolution and the short revisit time of TerraSAR is expected to help revealing the deformation pattern during the first months of the eruption. The deformation will then be used to fit analytical and numerical models to describe the parameters of the volcanic source. This information will be compared with seismological data of the same time span and with estimates of the erupted volume. Funding of the project is provided by the involved institutions.
