SummaryThe main objective of the proposed project is development of methods and technologies for application of satellite radar sensing data for geodynamic monitoring of ground surface in area of intensive oil extraction without dense technogenic infrastructure. The basic research method is multi-temporal TerraSAR-X data processing based on persistent scatterers interferometry technique. StaMPS software adapted for high-performance computing will be used for data processing. The area of research interest is the Samotlor oilfield located in Western Siberia. Since 2002 yearly in summer season on the geodynamic polygon leveling, GPS-measurements and gravitational survey is carried out. West Siberian Branch of Institute of Petroleum Geology and Geophysics of the Siberian Branch of Russian Academy of Science carries out mining and ecological monitoring of claim of Samotlor oil field. From the point of view of radar data processing the research territory is difficult and characterized by low dense of technogenic infrastructure, long snow cover period, and changeable natural landscapes and as consequence low number of stable interferometric scatterers and high temporal decorrelation. For the project 15 multi-temporal TerraSAR-X scenes acquired during a year is required. The criterion of attainment of the technical results and successfulness of the project as a whole will be the correlation between the results of multi-temporal TerraSAR-X data processing and materials of ground geodetic measurements carried out on points of Samotlor geodynamic polygon. The degree of the correlation will be the degree of applicability of TerraSAR-X data for monitoring of subsidence in area of intensive oil extraction. Research grant from Russian Foundation for Basic Research will provide funds of 15000 Euro per year.
