SummaryTerraSAR-X is highly suitable for sea ice driftand thicknesses estimation for many reasons. Polar orbits and a short repeatcycle of eleven days allow for example on one hand a frequent change observation of sea ice. On the other hand the advantages of X-Band compared to C- and L-Band are the high spatial resolution and the wide backscattering dynamic range between different ice types and different features like melt pools and pressure ridges. Hence this type of data is very appropriate for robust seaice thickness estimations. The possibility for combination of different SAR Missions will be investigated. N
