SummaryThe Tibetan Plateau and its surrounding areas are significant for global change and water balance investigations. The primary scientific objective is to obtain high-resolution, repeat pass TerraSAR-X data for measuring glacier dynamics and permafrost evolution of this region. The X-band observations will also integrated and compared with the results derived from L- and C-band SAR and optical earth observations as well as ground measurements that obtained during our Dragon-3 project implementation. The parameters of the cryospheric changes (glacier surface velocity, glacier DEM, frozen ground displacement, lake water level and time series of their variations) yielded in this project will help to improve the understanding of cryospheric dynamics of the Tibetan Plateau, which will be made available to the glaciology and other science communities.
