SummaryThis proposal focuses on developing research activities based on Terrasar-X interferometric data on two different application fields: urban monitoring and CO2 storage monitoring. The research will be developed at the Institute of Geomatics (IG) and will involve the analysis of the data collected over two different test sites with different objectives: - The Barcelona metropolitan area (Spain), where IG plans to continue its research activities related to the PSI urban monitoring. This will include the improvement of the existing models and developing a new PSI product: the thermal dilation maps. - The Hontomín area (Burgos, Spain) for the support of CO2 storage monitoring activities. This experimental work will be performed in the frame of the CIUDEN project (“Fundación Ciudad de la Energía”, Spanish Government). The proposed research will require 87 StripMap SSC images, to be acquired in a period of two years. The results obtained will be cross-compared with those obtained using CosmoSkyMed imagery (Barcelona test site) and valuable Ground-Based SAR interferometric data (Hontomín test site). The developed research will be funded by two different projects: - The Barcelona site activities will be funded by the DInSAR project, an internal long term research project of the Active Remote Sensing Unit of the IG. - The CO2 storage related activities will be funded by the CIUDEN project, which is financed by the Programme of Geological Storage of CO2 from the Fundación Ciudad de la Energía (CIUDEN), Spanish Government. To conclude, the work done will be summarized in two documents, one for each site, which will be delivered at the end of the project.
