TitleCultivated landscapes terrace walls,embankments and ditches detection

Summary Cultivated landscapes linear features(terrace walls, ditches, embankments, etc) are landscapes elementsthat became very important to map in order to help ecological orhydrological diagnosis over territories. Up to now, these elementsare missing in national mapping agencies databases and highresolution optical imaging fails to catch these elements accurately.Only very high resolution LiDARs partially perform terraces wallsdetection. The objective of the project is to :investigate the potential of TerraSAR-X as an alternative of LIDAR for the retrieval of cultivated landscapes terrace walls and ditches producing terrain morphological discontinuities by using several acquisition configurations at both modes (ascending and descending) and incidence angles (25° to 45°) to smooth the orientations effects on a single image. Simultaneously with the radar measurements, ground truth measurements of linear features location within a 28 km² cultivated landscape will be carried out.develop a combined TerraSAR-X images process for linear elements detection based on fast-line segment detection algorithms.investigate the added-value of TerraSAR-X when coupled to LIDAR data for the retrieval of cultivated landscapes terrace walls and ditches by using once again the same several acquisition configurations at both modes (ascending and descending) and incidence angles (25° to 45°).
