SummaryThe aim of the project is to test very high resolution TerraSAR-X satellite radar data, to assess the interaction between landslide phenomena and urban areas, with special reference to buildings, road infrastructures and facilities. With respect to the other SAR sensors, especially the traditional medium resolution satellites – thanks to the combination of high spatial resolution and the small revisiting time – TerraSAR-X provides unique characteristics for the monitoring of urban area, as well as of man made structures. In particular, the structures undergoing satellite monitoring are located in an area affected by slow-moving landslides. Monitoring of the area will be carried out over a 12-18 month period. In addition, the possibility to compare the data obtained by the analysis of satellite images with in situ measurements will be investigated.
