SummaryThe project is focused in an mountainous area where different types of landslides, subsidence and erosive processes occur. This region has been already studied with DInSAR by employing ERS and Envisat-ASAR images, and even TerraSAR-X data (May-November 2008) in Tena Valley. In order to validate the results from this project an important network of insitu instrumental techniques have been specifically installed. The research is designed with the following objectives: · Detect and monitor landslides, subsidence andbadlands exploiting X-band data · Validate radar deformation data with insitu instrumentation installed specifically for this purpose · Compare X-band performance with C and L-band data considering the differences of each site · Integrate X-band data in landslide, subsidence, and erosive processes predictive models · Evaluate the performance of X-band data as a preventive monitoring tool for structure and infrastructure monitoring The following actions constitute the methodology proposed for this project: · DInSAR processing of TerraSAR-X data. · Spatial and temporal analysis of radar deformation results with available geo-information · Comparison of X-band results with in-situ measurements, as well as with C and L band results. · Calibration of landslide, subsidence, and erosive processes predictive models with X-band data · Comparison of X-band data with forensic analysis results in structures and infrastructures The following data are required for the fulfillment of the project: · TerraSAR-X images acquired in stripmap mode over both sites in a repetitive basis: 11 days cycle and same configuration. Images in both ascending and descending orbits are necessary. · Geo-information maps: geology, geomorphology, geotechnics, land use, orto-images, topography, high resolution digital elevation model (DEM). · In situ measurements: corner reflectors, differential GPS, horizontal extensometers, inclinometers, piezometers, thermometers The main deliverables of the project are: o Radar ground deformation maps o Integrated GIS of radar ground deformation and geo-information maps o Precision and accuracy of radar ground deformation measurements o Improved landslide, subsidence, and erosive processes predictive models o Proposal of a methodology to integrate TerraSAR-X as a preventive monitoring tool for structure and infrastructure monitoring. With respect to the required funding for paying the acquisition of images, at the moment, images will be paid with funds from an on course R&D project supported by the SUDOE INTERREG IV project DO-SMS, but also a specific national application will be prepared for this proposal.
