SummaryThe objective of this study is to realize ananalyze of the potential of spatial TerraSAR-X ScanSAR data for structural,hydrogeological and landscape mapping and characterization of soil surface inthe semi-arid environment (North of Tunisia). The comparison between thepotentials of SAR sensors TerraSAR-X, Sentinel and PALSAR for structural,hydrogeological and landscape mapping and estimating of soil surfacecharacteristics.The method is based on the following analyzes: - Visual interpretation for identifying geological structuralfeatures; - Lineaments mapped from polarization of TerraSAR data. - Surface deformation maps generated from TerraSAR data and draped overa high-resolution elevation model. - Landscape mapping using classification methods of remote sensing data. - Mapping of surface roughness, soil composition (percentages of clay,sand and silt). The soil samples will be taken in each training plot todetermine the particle-size distribution within plots using the sensitivity ofradar signals. - Mappingof soil salinity classes derived space borne radar systems. Using inverse modeling,the imaginary part can be calculated and calibrated with soil salinity in thesemi-arid climate. The data requirements are two Image TerraSAR-X ScanSAR SC: - TSX-1_2010-01-23T17_14_0107086_ScanSAR SC- TSX-1_2010-01-29T17_05_3066314_ScanSARSC The project is funded by the Water Researches and Technologies Centre, Technopark of Borj Cedria, Tunisia.
