SummaryThe aim of this project is to exploit high resolution spaceborne data to develop procedures useful for the identification, monitoring, analysis and modelling of subsidence processes. The project will last two years and will consist of four main steps, focused on: 1. Processing TerraSAR-X images with advanced DInSAR Methodologies (e.g. SBAS, CPT e PSInSAR) over Ravenna and surrounding areas. 2. Developing post-processing methods for data interpretation that take advantage of the higher spatial and temporal resolutions; 3. Comparing and integrating the results of the interferometric processing with other geodetic measurements (e.g. GPS, leveling measurements, etc.). The in-situ data will provide ground-truth validation data for the interferometric results but they will be also integrated in the DInSAR processing; 4. Deformation Time Series Analysis in order to compare them with the particular factors/actions that cause subsidence. Funding for the research activity will be ensured by grants from an ongoing research project (PRIN - Programmi di ricerca di rilevante interesse nazionale “Tecniche geomatiche innovative ed emergenti di rilievo, telerilevamento da aereo e satellite”) at the University of Padua, Italy.
