SummaryThe project aimsto analyze archived TerraSAR-X mission data to study the current state of glaciers in the HKH region. The main goals are to achieve insights into ice dynamics of glaciers in high mountain regions, i.e., the Karakoram Range. We intend to use SAR offset-tracking procedures and SAR interferometry in order to derive surface velocities of glaciers. SAR based surface velocities will help to identify surging glaciers as well as their flow patterns. Summer coherence can be used to map glacier extent of debris-covered glaciers. Data analysis is funded from running and planned DFG projects and a granted HGF alliance Remote Sensing of Earth System Dynamics.
