SummaryTerraSAR-Xdata with high spatial resolution and short repeat cycles provide us a uniquechance to investigate rapid ground deformation in a great detail. However the considerably large discrepancy betweenthe spatial resolution of TerraSAR-X data and external DEM make the removal ofheight-related phase component in interferograms difficult. The project aims todevelop a multi-temporal InSAR model that can retrieve the deformation signalfrom SAR images without the need of DEM. Since the contribution of height tointerferometric phase is proportional to the height itself and the length of thespatial perpendicular baseline, it is obvious that the contribution of the heightcan be reduced significantly in interferograms with ultra-short baselines. In this project we will use the so-calledinteger combination technique to generate a set of pseudo interferograms withnearly zero baselines. Based on the coherent phases in these interferograms, weonly need to take the deformation as the parameter, which makes the modeling simpler. To evaluate the performance of themodel we will select Beijing and its surroundings as the test site. Thedeliverables of this project may include 1 or 2 peer-reviewed journal papers, several presentations in the international conference, and some algorithms on integercombination technique.
