TitleSeismic deformation of Tangshan city monitoring by TerraSAR data

SummaryThere are two objectives for this project: (1)Obtaining the coseismic deformation of large aftershock of and interseismic deformation of Tangshan earthquake; (2) Analysis (modeling) the seismic deformation to evaluate the seismic risk of Tangshan city. We will use ascending and descending pass to obtain the accurate the coseismic deformation. The long wavelength orbital ramps and atmospheric delay will be removed by quadratic surface. The SRTM DEM will be used to correct the atmospheric related to topography. The fault slip will be inferred by InSAR data based on the okada elastic dislocation. The advanced DInSAR technique (SBAS and PS-InSAR) will be used to achieve the time series surface deformation. The potential fault lines, which are across through Tangshan, will be located in this study. We assess the potential earthquake risk based on the located fault line and column stress change. This project will be funded by State Natural Sciences Foundation Monumental Projects (D0404/41104003). This funding will support us finish the whole project, including in provide the funding to pay the publication fee and TerraSAR meeting. We will need about 150 scenes for this area (all the research will only focus on this area and for scientific use), maybe the final number of images will smaller 150, which strongly depended on the images acquired in this area by TerraSAR. We hope acquire all the interferometry image acquisitions in this area from 2007 to 2012. Our deliverable includes two reporters (preliminary and final). The project result will update frequently on our project website.
