SummaryThe general aim of this research is to study the state of the geospatial reality and its evolution in terms of Object Recognition using radar imagery applied within the area of Bratislava, the capital city of Slovakia. Bratislava is attractive mainly due to its geographic location, size and growing population. In addition, the city has agricultural area in its surrounding, constantly growing industrial part on the outskirts, but also a lots of valuable cultural relics in its historical center. Moreover, utilisation of radar imagery for the Object Recognition purposes, hopefully improves knowledge about the advantages and disadvantages of the high-resolution radar imagery provided by TerraSAR-X satellite in comparison to the capabilities of the ASAR radar instrument onboard Envisat and to the data from optical imagery. Within this project, new mathematical approaches are planned to be applied and compared to the traditional Object Recognition methods. Revealing the geospatial reality and its evolution within time, assessment of the nature of their behaviour, identification of ongoing processes and estimation of their future conditions with the benefits of radar imagery techniques is a huge challenge.
