SummaryThis project will use archived pairs of TerraSAR-X images to measure the velocities of fast-moving outlet glaciers in Alaska, Patagonia and the Russian Arctic that are the focus of ongoing research from our group. Only a few glaciers are targeted in each large region and there are actually very few archived TerraSAR-X observations of our glaciers of interest. A future proposal will be submitted to make new TerraSAR-X acquisitions. The goals of these projects are to understand the variations in the velocities of these glaciers due to seasonal effects, long-term climate change, and other dynamic processes. Funding for the Russia project is from a US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) grant and the Alaska project is from an US National Science Foundation (NSF) grant. Funding for the Patagonia work is part of pending proposals to NSF and NASA.
