SummaryTerrSAR-X new ST mode image can provide sub-meter resolution image. Comparing to meter-resolution SAR image, more details of object features can be observed in the higher resolution image. The new features can facilitate interpretation of the images. However, signatures of man-made objects, such as buildings, will become more complicated. Therefore, the techniques should be evaluated and improved for the new mode data. Aim of that, researches will be carried out as follows: 1) Investigating the characteristics of individual buildings in decimeter and meter resolution SAR imagery. 2) Evaluating and improving methods for building detection and parameters retrieval with decimeter resolution SAR imagery. 3) Analysis the features of building damages in decimeter resolution SAR imagery and developing method for building damage detection and assessment. Beijing, Suzhou and other cities are chosen for research areas. TerraSAR-X new ST mode images will be needed for study. In addition, the data acquired will be used for research only. We have supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China under Grant No. 41371413 (Researchon Earthquake Damage Detection and Analysis of Buildings with High ResolutionSAR Image). The ST data will greatly promote the research.
