Summary

Objective of the proposal is to improve or extend the current GMF XMOD2 to the Wide ScanSAR data through conducting a systematic comparison, in particular for the beams of Wide ScanSAR data with incidence angle lower than 20 degrees or larger than 45 degrees. The systematic validation is based on comparisons with spaceborne scatterometer including ASCAT, HY-2, radiometer WindSat, atmospheric model results, and in situ buoy measurements.

Deliverables are presentations in TS-X science meeting, publications, and final reports. The available programme of improved XMOD2 will be delivered to the ground station Neustrelitz.

The proposed study is supported by Start-up grant of “young 100 talent scholars” (No.Y4S0040030) issued for the PI of the project, which starts from February 2014 and will last for three years.
